Gerald B. Iba, MD
Gerald B. Iba was born and raised in Salt Lake City, where he studied piano and attended the University of Utah as a music major. He then attended the University of Utah School of Medicine; and after graduating from medical school, he moved to Los Angeles for a Surgery Internship followed by a Radiology Residency at UCLA.
Dr. Iba remained on staff at the UCLA School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Radiology. He went into private practice at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downtown Los Angeles, where he remained for 37 years and was the head of the Radiology Department for 15 years. He was also a Clinical Professor of Radiology at the USC School of Medicine for 15 years.
Dr. Iba has always maintained his love for the piano, and, after a long hiatus, he began studying piano again while still practicing medicine. He currently studies with Rufus Choi and enjoys playing in recitals with other students.
Dr. Iba has eight children, 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He loves to read, exercise, and practice piano daily, while continuing an active medical practice in Radiology.
